Watching #TheSandbaggers properly for the first time. It’s delightfully cynical, pragmatic and the office politics are at least as important as the missions the SIS agents go on. It deserves far more recognition; 1970s spy TV.
For those of you who grew up at the same time, it’s a Yorkshire Television Colour Production with that 1970s beige.
A mysterious life is right, information thin on most of it, but still insightful.
Was hoping for more behind-the-scenes of the show, but suppose that's been covered elsewhere. And probably not a lot of that was documented in the first place
A short read, worth it for fans of the show.
And gives me his five(!) novels that he wrote while in the navy(!) to hunt down.
Well that was a journey — years, years, I’ve been telling people to watch Sandbaggers (and read Queen & Country) — and turns out I only ever watched a third of it. And can't continue recommending it enough.
And so now I’m on to the book about creator Ian MacKintosh.
(After a dive on the cast in IMDb led to spending time with symphonic versions of Saltwater, you know how these things go.)
haha, wow! Turns out that apparently I’ve always misunderstood the one “season” it had, so we only ever watched the first seven eps, not knowing there’s more after… that… twist. Off into uncharted territory.
I've dropped this one at work a couple of times. Proof that you can be slating and polite.
