Okay, so my group played #TheQuietYear yesterday. We did a little less than first half of the deck in three hours.

It was a lot of fun. Like a lot. We chose to make it about Mars-like planet settlement during terraformation. I was worried (I worry too much) of conflicting visions but we actually did really well. Emergent story of children yearning for the mines and then constructing exploding spears to hunt Dune-like sandworms was awesome.

@vdonnut I guess I would say: no game is perfect, but #TheQuietYear is consistently recommended as really good at what it does by a wide range of people so if you're just concerned with whether it's a good game to bring to your group: yes, it is. If it sounds like a theme you're interested in, give it a go!
Anyone played #TheQuietYear and can share some insights?

It was a year of people discussing and arguing and disagreeing and leaving our community for dreams of a better place, and it was a year we gathered around the campfire to sing and dance and laugh and cry on each others' shoulders.

It was a quiet year, and then the Frost Shepherds arrived.

#ttrpg #TheQuietYear

It was the year we cried when our bears got killed by the marauders and it was the year we took in the bear cubs into our camp to raise them along with our own.

#ttrpg #TheQuietYear

It was the year of the bears - so many bears - terrorizing and mangling and killing the bravest of us and twarting any attempts at keeping them contained, and it was the year we used bear shit to fertilize our fields and bear fur to keep us warm and even tamed bears to fight the marauders.

#ttrpg #TheQuietYear

It was the year we restored the old coal mine and reforged old weapons into farming tools, and it was the year we reforged these tools again into swords and knives to fend off the northern marauders pillaging our food supplies.

#ttrpg #TheQuietYear

It was the year the self-proclaimed priest convinced us to restore the statue of the rainbow goddess and construct a temple in her honor, and it was the year the priest left our community and we repurposed the temple as a sleeping hall so our children wouldn't freeze in the cold winter nights.

#TTRPG #TheQuietYear

It was a year of relative peace in our mountain valley, between the polluted river and the old battlefield full of debris and scrap metal.

It was the year young Yasmin inspired us all to clean up the river together so we could catch fish again, and it was the year she left us to go live with her love of the Mushroom people in the east.

Zero session last night and trying our hand at a multiverse jumping series of #ttrpg s. #SpeedRune remains as our rules-light origin game for this second try, and I pulled an enchanted defense scenario out of a D&D third post random tables book.

One of us is excited to create a pantheon from the runic powers and another is a first time player. Figured on meeting every couple of weeks and maybe #yazebasbedandbreakfast, #bladesinthdark, or #thequietyear are up next. #indieTTRPGs #indiettrpg
