Have been watching mini series #ThePursuitOfLove 2021; Nancy Mitford’s original 1945 novel always reads like a tv script to me, so it’s intriguing to see what different productions make of it 🤔
(enjoying it immensely, so far)

naturally i’ve gone back down the rabbit hole to where my fascination (unhealthy obsession?) with the Mitfords began: Jessica’s 1963 story #HonsAndRebels (a great piece of social history about Lord Redesdale’s family, and the bizarre ideas held by the English Upper Crust - and there are more holes in their ideas than a crocheted doily;

Hons & Rebels covers period after WWI, Spanish Civil War etc - the older i get, the more i learn, the more the story makes sense to me.

More (in)famously; Jessica’s sister Diana Mitford married Oswald Mosley (leader of Brit Union of Fascists); Jessica became a communist/socialist; Unity became a personal friend of Hitler etc

There is an honesty about Jesica’s writing that i find appealing; here she talks about an incident shortly after she first ran away from home, on her way to Spain via France;
