In happier news, it turns out that the population of humpback whales -- which #StarTrek expected would be extinct by the time of the Star Trek future -- now have a population over 100,000, and are no longer considered endangered! Hooray! Sometimes things do get better.
I recently watched #StarTrekTheVoyageHome (aka #TheOneWithTheWhales) with my kid for her first time. It was great fun! But... uh, I'd forgotten how many colorful metaphors there were. ๐
Indeed, we see @georgetakei can #pilot a #Huey 204 across San Francisco with just a few minutes of familiarization and only one accidental activation of the (finger operated) windshield wiper.

@nocontexttrek Ah, the ol' manually operated #helicopter wipers, but activated by a switch! That was a big feature back then before true automatic wipers were introduced. You got someone clinging to the side of your #chopper ready to actuate the wiper arm when you flip the control.
(Watch closely in the film and you can see a production assistant's finger sneak into frame as they move the wiper for @georgetakei's reaction.)
