You cannot really replace a movie like that, but the new one is quite fun and takes a lot from that style of older slapstick bullshit. I think they did an outstanding job.

I was a huge fan growing up — Airplane!, Police Squad and the criminally under-appreciated Top Secret! were endlessly rewatchable. I’ve not seen the new version yet, but I gather it’s actually not bad.
