#writerscoffeeclub Day 7: What's your favourite book? Why?

I have three: The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue (V.E. Schwab), The Graveyard Book (Neil Gaiman), and Middlegame (Seanan McGuire).

I'll go with the first, though, for a lot of reasons. For one thing, I admire and aspire to V.E. Schwab's prose. But what's more meaningful to me is that, of all the stories I've consumed, only a few have truly made me feel seen. This is one of them.

Fantastic line from #TheInvisibleLifeOfAddieLaRue (it’s full of fantastic lines)

‘History is something you look back on, not something you really feel at the time. In the moment, you’re just living’

It’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. I think we’re living through a momentous time in history but others say ‘no, it’s just normal’. But the people living through momentous times in history didn’t just sit there and think ‘wow, history!’ all day. They still had to do the laundry

1) Looking forward to the next installment of the #ThursdayMurderClub series by #RichardOsman in 2023. Also 🤞the #NeilGaiman sequel to Neverwhere, #SevenSisters.

2) My favorite book of 2022 I think was #TheInvisibleLifeofAddieLaRue by #VESchwab. It caught me off guard and sucked me in.

Anyway. Next month's book is The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab. I picked up a large print copy as I'm still reading something else on Libby.

And MAN. Holding a physical book was nice. I haven't really done that in a while.

Might have to try and read this like that.

I attended a virtual book club tonight that I'm talking with the librarian running it about co-hosting. My thought is that one branch might not have enough genre fiction readers to justify a book club, but two might.

Me being the only person who showed up for The Hogfather by Terry Pratchett is a sign that might be needed.
