TV Review: DOCTOR WHO — THE INTERSTELLAR SONG CONTEST

The sixth episode of Doctor Who’s fifteenth series coincided with Eurovision 2025, which is used as an inspiration for “The Interstellar Song Contest.” The ...

Wow. That Rylan fella has had some work done.. #DoctorWho #TheInterstellarSongContest

We just finished watching Who Culture's ups and downs of the episode, and honestly we're shocked and appealed that they seemingly missed (or chose to omit) the very blatant parallel with Israel's genocide of Palestinians!!!

The corporation blatantly represents not only Eurovision, which has continued to allow Israel to compete the last 2 years, but also the BBC, which:

  • is a major funder of Eurovision;
  • which won't allow any criticism of Israel by its staff; and
  • which wrongly conflates being anti-genocide and anti-Zionism with antisemitism.

The Hellions represent Palestinians, who have been demonised and falsely accused of all being terrorists by Israel and its media stooges.

It's really notable that this episode -- which was a scathing indictment of genocide being supported and ignored by Eurovision -- was written by a trans fem author and human rights activist Juno Dawson.

Why notable? Because trans people are also currently under a systematic, sustained attack all over the world, especially the USA and UK, and are literally seeing their rights systemically debated by anti-trans organisations.

Just like the Hellions, trans people are:

  • being demonised;
  • having their lives and history erased; and
  • having to weigh up openly being themselves (trans) vs hiding who they are to be allowed to have a voice and take part in society.

We were honestly amazed that this episode didn't get cancelled or disappeared by the BBC. In fairness, they probably didn't understand the parallels being drawn.

We could, and may, do further analysis of this episode if people are interested.

It's not just us who spotted all this right? Right?!
