Bill Bixby gives a superb performance in this episode. So, in all fairness, does Denny Miller. Once again, the fourth/final season shows a propensity to deviate wildly from formula. This is the one where David loses the power of his legs. Bixby shows us a different side of Banner. Self-pitying and isolated. It’s one of those episodes that creates a fully-formed world and drops David into it. I could easily watch a series driven by Denny Miller, Peter Hobbs and Diane Shalet, and the various characters we meet in this hospital. The script by Nancy Faulkner is one of the show’s best and cleverest. It finds logical ways to include the Hulk and McGee and uses each one to drive the story forward. As well as David’s journey to recovery, it gets us heavily invested in Paul (Denny Miller) and his journey and delivers a realistic ending for him. He doesn’t get “a Hollywood ending” but you feel optimistic for his future. It’s also great to have an episode where David bonds so much with another man (instead of a pretty lady). _My 466th TV episode of 2025. Averaging 58 minutes of TV per day._ 10/10
