With Hanns Benkert, we want to introduce you to a Siemens manager at #TheHumanAsACommodity. Under his leadership, forced labourers were mistreated and intimidated. He is sentenced after the war. After his death 1948, he is acquitted following an appeal by his widow.

In #TheHumanAsACommodity we would like to introduce Hertha Ehlert to you today. She decided to pursue a career as a concentration camp guard. One survivor describes her as: "vicious in character and an absolute master of the whip."

Elisa Gérard from Alsace did forced labour at Siemens in #Hakenfelde. One of the few joys of this time may have been the camp choir in which she sang.

Hans Goldmann grew up in #Berlin #Dahlem. From 1941 onwards, he had to do forced labour in the Siemens electric motor factory. He feels relatively safe here.
In 1943, he is deported to #Auschwitz and murdered there.
