From the commentary track, Dee and Chris weren't married yet, but they were pretty close during this movie, so Dee just went and got drunk when this scene was filmed.
From the commentary track, it almost had something like that in that final barn scene.
- Dee vociferously complained that this was supposed to be a "classy" movie with a "no added nude scenes" clause in her contract,
- the film crew were laughing at how ridiculous it looked, and
- I think a producer or agent raced on to the set, and looked at the topless women, yelled alot, and finally said, "This is stupid."
Director Joe Dante relented. ๐
@allanb
Supposedly, Eddie was supposed to climb under the sheets while Karen turned away to swap position with dead Terry to scare to crap out of Karen, cuz Eddie likes drama! ๐
@Taweret
The Director Joe Dante admits in the commentary track that he was not really good at blocking yet, so he tried to compensate with shorter cuts so the audience didn't notice. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Yup, it's mentioned in the movie a couple of times that fire can kill them (I think Dick Miller in the book store says it), and it's the reason John Carradine wants to kill himself by jumping into the bonfire in the beach scene.
