But is that final name reveal actually meant to play like a reveal? Surely not. And yet the space and weight given to it, as well as the crashing score signifying the end, make it seem that way.
And I think that is that. The rubbish ending to a rubbish entry in the series, one so bad that it is only beaten to the position of absolute worst of the series by a TV movie that made the mistake of having the main child actor play things in an obviously evil way.
I would have said that this movie should have taken a number of very different directions, but the reality is that it shouldn't have been made in the first place. Use a similar premise to create a framework for something that didn't have to try, and fail, to connect to an established franchise.
Oh dear, I'd forgotten when this film spent a minute wanting to be Possession. When it clearly isn't close to being Possession. Again, kudos to the lead though.
A bit premature. Got about 15 minutes to wait. Which means I can sit through the flat presentation of all the exposition we get in this scene that at least gives more screentime to Ineson again.
Dinner time. So a brief reprieve before the last 30-40 minutes.
I'm looking forward to discussing this movie series next week for a YouTube video, but I'll try to be respectfully quiet when it comes to this one, which I think I dislike even more now than when I first watched it.
And we plod along, trudging through a dull narrative that doesn't even make the most of the next main death sequence as a character is pinned to a wall by a car.
I feel as if this has been quite quickly forgotten, and I am not bothered by that. The praise it received when it was first released felt wildly disproportionate to me, considering how many times it flounders. But I know that many others may still really enjoy it.
And then it's pretty much the worst moment, because it's the third time in this series that we've seen someone claim that "it's all for you" before jumping with a noose around their neck.
