We've seen it before; bumbling male scholar meets beautiful female demon. Scholar and demon fall in love and have to get out of the mess they've created for themselves. Quarreling demon hunters aid(?).

Hm. The Enchanting Phantom seems to be on the level of soppyness I expected (and kinda' crave rn). It's also the first movie ever where I root for the villain from the start*. Don't know if it's me or the film.
