A major problem with movies like #TheDescendants and #WhiteMaterial, requiring a massive disconnection from reality and suspension of disbelief, is that literally no white person has or ever can have a rightful claim to the land around which these movies are centered.
Regardless of how many generations back white characters trace their "ownership" of the land, it always begins with white theft from those who've been there for centuries and millennia.
