Not a fixed top seven, but that'll do for today.
ulfOnce upon a time, I started reading The Crow Road, by Iain Banks, and after a chapter or two gave up, and handed it to my partner. She read it and was enthralled. “He has such wonderful paragraphs!”
So I read it again, and instead of trying to zip through it to find out what was happening, I read each paragraph like a brush stroke on a masterpiece. That book is now one of my all time favourites.
It changed the way I read books.
