Which takes me back to the beginning: society will not want to actively "repress" these protests, as they are enforcing society's self-given rules. These rules are: we shut up and help capital destroy the world, if we get some nice shiny trinkets and cheap mobility along the way.
#TheComingFossilistInsurrection will be a consumer, not a workers revolt, so will come from a place, from a subject that we on the left verdrÀng, as we're embarrassed by how easily manipulated the consumer is. The consumer wants what it's been promised, NOT the revolution.
#TheComingFossilistInsurrection will mobilise society's most treasured desire: that things may stay the way they are, or were, in some perfect, imagined past.
