Jimmy Carter turns 100 on 1 October, but he is in poor health. His family reports that he is no longer waking up every day, but that he is hanging on to see one more milestone in American history, voting for the first Black-Asian American female president.

In 1976, I wasn’t able to vote for Jimmy Carter for POTUS but I did run his campaign in my high school class.

Carter lost to Gerald Ford in my more conservative all-girls Catholic high school class.

But he won the national #election. I wore my home-made peanut “Carter for #POTUS” for many days after.

I’ve been #JimmyCarter voter and fan these many years.

Study him and his work with #thecartercenter and #habitatforhumanity. We have a better world because of him.

And my #voting for him.🗳️

Sad news... #TheCarterCenter has released a statement on the health of former Pres. #JimmyCarter, who has returned home to stay in hospice:

"After a series of short hospital stays, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter today decided to spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care instead of additional medical intervention. He has the full support of his family and his medical team. The Carter family asks for privacy during this time and is grateful for the concern shown by his many admirers."
