The problem is that there were books in Polanski’s film, and not just mere props, but objets d’art in their own right. In contrast, there’s precious little painting in this movie; in fact, there’s literally less than meets the eye.

90% of Everything is Crap

Just finished watching #TheBurntOrangeHeresy on #Film4 and I have some thoughts 🧵:

At first was going to dismiss it as a "meh" #thriller with pretensions at being a cornflake #drama.
I'm still not sure it "works" at the deeper levels it seemed to be striving for.

But I think there was more going on beneath the surface than we might think.

My main thesis would be "Figueras *is* Debney" - both are failed artists who ultimately only become recognised for their frauds...
