Some classic comic strips make an effort to keep up with changing times, and then there's Monday's 'The Born Loser'.

(In fairness, I do not know whether this is a recycled strip from years ago, but the depiction of what a 45-year-old looks like, as well as the tablecloth-draped dinner table and the suggestion that stuffed cabbage would be a common meal for couples in their 40s, seems more reflective of when the strip premiered in 1965 than the world of 2024.)

The word 'fantod' means acting uneasy or anxious. It was famously used in "Huckleberry Finn" when Huck describes having "the fantods". "Most Americans have been suffering from the fantods since about 2015 or so."
