We still use the purely theoretical #TuringMachine as a base measure of a computional system.

So often it takes a concentration of resources, enabling an inventor to try and fail, over and over again, often at great expense.

The Baroque Cycle - Wikipedia

Y’know, #ThePrincessBride could be in the same world as #NealStephenson’s #TheBaroqueCycle.

Maybe Miracle Max is reluctant to help raise Westley because he doesn’t want to reveal to a couple of rough-looking mercenaries that he’s got a cache of Solomonic Gold.

So, I've finally finished the slog of #TheBaroqueCycle which to be fair got better towards the end.

*Distant sounds of faint praise*

So I'll be moving onto #Cryptonomicon next.

What lovely weather, grey, grey, grey.

Meanwhile, reading very slow...ly, #TheBaroqueCycle really isn't something I'd recommend, but I've started it so I have to finish it, eventually.

Reminds me of that time I just stopped reading a book halfway through, because it wasn't engaging enough, sold it to a local book shop along with several other books I no longer wanted, and then several years later re-bought it, finally completed it, and realised I'd been right the first time.

Rejoice one and all, for I have finally completed volume 1 of #TheBaroqueCycle

And what a good read, if a little long and confusing, it was.

I've just this second turned the page to the cover of volume 2.

Hurrah!;*

In celebration of this great feat of reading par excellence, I'm now off to bed (;*

__
I know, a bit of a letdown isn't itβ€½;*

Nos da!:*

On the reading front, still slogging through #TheBaroqueCycle Just when I get comfortable in the story the narrator, or the view point changes, it's a little annoying.

I was happily reading about Jack Shaftoe, then he drops out of the story, Eliza tells her tale, then Bob Shaftoe turns up and then we're back to Daniel Waterhouse.

Glorious Revolution!;*

What a lovely word, 'obnubilated', why did that ever go out of fashion?;*

Oh, sorry, it means to be hidden from view, made unclear, or obscured.

#TheBaroqueCycle

Taking a break from reading #TheBaroqueCycle and reading #WhyINoLongerTalkToWhitePeopleAboutRace instead.

17% through the former, while also being 17% through the latter, which just goes to show you which is going to be the longer read, since I only started #WINLTtWPAR tonight.

@feld
I don't really play well with others, and consequently tend not to join book or other clubs, but don't let my antisocial/introverted nature stop you setting one up again (;*

Meanwhile, I'll be over here reading through #TheBaroqueCycle (:*

I might be some time...

If you don't hear from me in the next few days don't be alarmed, I'm just reading #TheBaroqueCycle probably moving on to #Cryptonomicon and thence through all the other books on the image I've not already read yet (;*
