Al-Quds [#hospital] once had capacity for 120 patients. Now, roughly 20 remain, including two babies in intensive care. About 60 doctors, nurses and patients’ families are sheltering there.

Vaughan is from Seattle and volunteered through the Palestinian Australian New Zealand Medical Association since July. She kept a video diary of her time at al-Quds, occasionally posting on social media.

She shared dozens of videos with #TheAssociatedPress, which verified them. Volunteers in #Gaza like her have become a vital source of information, as #Israel has forbidden foreign media.

The health care system in Gaza City is coming under fire and being pushed toward collapse as Israeli troops bear down. Nearly two weeks into Israel’s latest ground offensive on Gaza’s largest city, two clinics were destroyed by airstrikes, two hospitals shut down after being damaged and others are barely functioning. Medicine, equipment, food and fuel are in short supply. An American nurse volunteering at al-Quds hospital for three months kept a video diary and shared it with the Associated Press. The diary provides a rare record of military operations that pushed the facility toward its breaking point.

TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — As pressure mounts to get more aid into #Gaza, #Israel appears to be changing tack and may let aid groups operating in the battered enclave remain in charge of non-food assistance while leaving food distribution to a newly established U.S.-backed group, according to a letter obtained by #TheAssociatedPress.

Israel appears to be changing tack as pressure mounts to get more aid into Gaza, and may let aid groups operating in the battered enclave take charge of non-food assistance. That’s according to a letter obtained by The Associated Press saying food distribution would be left up to a newly established group, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which is backed by the U.S. and Israel but is not yet up and running in the enclave. Israel accuses Hamas of siphoning off aid but the United Nations and aid groups deny there is significant diversion. There was no immediate comment from Israeli officials on the letter.
