The Most Eye-opening Documentaries to Stream Now on Showmax – SAMDB News

“It Looks Like Hitler Was Pretty Good!”: Crypto Grifter At Center of HBO Series and “Anarchapulco” Praises Hitler, Denies Holocaust

Jeff Berwick, the 'anarcho'-capitalist intellectual guru, sex-pest, and grifter supreme at the center of HBO's new docu-series, The Anarchists, has been presented as a harmless ideologue promoting a "peaceful, voluntary" society. Yet anyone that takes longer than apparently every mainstream journalist who wrote essentially the same article about the series over the past two weeks,...

It's Going Down

Just watched #theanarchists in HBO intrigued me so I’ve been doing some research. First stop anarchicapitalisn.

My five word summary?

What could possibly go wrong.

Sure on a relatively small scale with relatively equal levels of power, great. On a large scale? Holy shit levels of authoritarianism.

The fact that all the "anarchists" in the docuseries I'm watching seem to use variations of the name "John Galt" as aliases leads me to suspect that they are not quite the independent thinkers they imagine themselves to be.

My thoughts after viewing the series finale of "The Anarchists" s01e06:
- I feel like, if you call yourself a former anarchist, you never really were. Anarchism is not a belief system, it's a logical and rational conclusion. People however, are too seldom logical or rational.
- "A state can exist if it'll leave me alone". Sadly, the state never actually leaves you alone. It's against its nature.
- It's interesting that the two broken hearted ladies seem at odds with the philosophies at the series end. Emotional human toll on full display.
- The two dead men, arguably the two most respected community leaders John and Nathan, appear to have lived their lives for their philosophies and principles. Attempting to change the world for the better, even if you fail, is still noble as fuck.

Vice Motherboard (Ella Fassler): *Real Anarchists React to ‘The Anarchists,’ A New Series About Crypto Bros*

"… Berwick claims he’s an anarchist because he doesn’t believe in rulers, and doesn’t think anyone should be a slave. But for anti-capitalist anarchists, capitalism can’t be anarchistic because the economic system relies on rulers—bosses and owners—to coercively extract profits from a laboring class. Anarchists therefore consider “anarchist capitalism” to be oxymoronic.

Anarchists of the socialist variety argue for workplaces that are democratically controlled by workers themselves, not bosses or state bureaucrats. Food, water, essential goods and art would be produced and freely shared and distributed in accordance to the needs and desires of people in a community, not the desires and needs of capitalists. …"

Real Anarchists React to ‘The Anarchists,’ A New Series About Crypto Bros

HBO’s new docuseries explores Anarchapulco, a not-so-utopian den of 'free market' capitalists. Anarchists say their goals couldn’t be more different.
