Final panel at #TextileConf22 is on #EnvironmentalScience in response to #TextileIndustry within the context of #imperialism. Impact of the textile industry on #ClimateChange goes further than polluting impact of #FossilFuels. Includes forcible change to agriculture in colonised countries to cotton cultivation and engineering of cotton crops to make them more reliable. Example of forcible removal of #Kombumerri people in Queensland to use land for cotton cultivation.
Second session of #TextileConf22 I've picked is about stitching together evidences of #IndustrialHistory from disparate sources (#archaeology #archives #BuiltEnvironment #museums #HistoricMachinery #art) through the #CongruenceEngine project.
