New ‘Sugar Land 95’ historical marker to be celebrated in Fort Bend County

A Juneteenth festival on Thursday will coincide with the dedication of the historical marker, which memorializes the 95 individuals believed to be part of a former convict leasing labor program involving African Americans. Their remains were found on Fort Bend ISD property southwest of Houston in 2018.
