The watchdog advocacy group Texas Freedom Network asked a religious studies scholar to examine a new state-developed reading curriculum that includes biblical elements. According to the report, the proposed lessons fail to capture historical reality and don’t contain adequate balance between religions.
The State Board of Education was originally going to consider the course when members meet this week, but the new chair delayed its consideration.
