Texas City investigating claims of fraud in mayoral recall petition

A document provided by the city secretary said that of the 1,303 signatures submitted in the petition to recall Mayor Dedrick Johnson, 989 were able to be verified. A total of 1,010 verified signatures would be needed for a recall election.

According to the health district, a bird displaying “erratic behavior” was reported to Texas City Animal Control on Dec. 5. The bird died shortly after and tested positive for Bird Flu.
