As a #Texan, I am well aware that most of the world, particularly now, thinks #Texas is stupid. Understood.
But there is something happening in Texas that is beyond illustrative. It's archetypal of our world, of #fascism, and of late state #capitalism. Today is the #Republican primary for US #Senate in the #Midterms between Ken #Paxton and John #Cornyn who each typify the two sides of the #GOP.
Paxton is a cinemagraphically corrupt idiot, who even the Republican state legislature impeached.

A man from Humble, Texas, admitted to purchasing the illegally killed tails and feathers of bald and golden eagles. This indictment was announced by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Montana District. John Patrick Butler, 71, was sentenced on May 5th to five years of supervised release and ordered to pay $77,500 in restitution.
The bald eagles (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) and golden eagles (Aquila chrysaetos) had been killed in the area of the Flathead Indian Reservation, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Una giovane cacciatrice texana, Sydney K., ha pubblicato sui propri profili social una serie di foto che hanno rapidamente acceso la polemica sul web: nelle immagini la cacciatrice appare incinta, in posa accanto a un cervo abbattuto, e successivamente con il neonato in braccio affiancata da altre prede. Secondo quanto riportato anche da Il Messaggero, la vicenda ha generato una forte ondata di reazioni, tra indignazione e incredulità, e ha riacceso il confronto su ciò che oggi viene considerato ‘normale’ nell’esposizione della vita privata online, soprattutto se si tratta di contenuti come questi. Le foto, infatti, pubblicate sui profili social della donna, hanno rapidamente diviso l’opinione pubblica tra chi rivendica la caccia come tradizione e chi, invece, legge in quelle scene una frattura profonda tra maternità e morte.
È un racconto breve, ma costruito attraverso immagini molto precise: prima gli scatti durante la gravidanza, con il pancione ben visibile accanto a un cervo abbattuto; poi, dopo il parto, le foto con la figlia appena nata, inserite nello stesso contesto, tra altre scene di caccia, compresa l’immagine di una lince uccisa da poco.

Nessuna decisione drastica. Un altro giorno è trascorso a Trigoria all'insegna dell'attesa.
