"Written by the creator of the #Daleks, #TerryNation, the serial starred Hartnell and Purves alongside an early appearance by #NicholasCourtney as Bret Vyon, Adrienne Hill as Katarina, and Kevin Stoney as Mavic Chen.

"Courtney would go on to play recurring character, #TheBrigadier.

"But the 'dark and gritty' 12-part storyline was ordered to be wiped, and more than half of it remains missing."

If they make a chip for this then a shout-out to Blake's 7 and the writer, Terry Nation, for predicting this with Tariel-cells.

Orac, the greatest computer ever (fictional or not), would come later and be able to wirelessly access any PC with a Tariel cell in it.

Which was all of them.

As well as being incredibly powerful, Orac was also an irascible and arrogant AI.

This is a bit different... #raymondcusick 's original design of a #dalek based on #terrynation 's description in the first script involving dakeks in #DoctorWho (see also his sketch in this post) I've followed the his drawing as closely as possible - but the colours I've taken from the first daleks that appeared on TV in December 1963. #daleks #digitalArt #britishsciencefiction (Sketch image copyright of Terry Nation, Raymond Cusick & BBC)

And Soon the Darkness (1970)

Welcome to another installment of B-Movie Enema and the continuation of this month’s women-in-peril theme. The first week we saw an unbelievable terror for a pair of young women in New York. …

Rewatching the 1975 Terry Nation series Survivors and it’s fascinating to be reminded how white and class ridden British tv was compared to now. Despite that, it’s still one of the greatest pieces of post-apocalyptic drama there is, with a brilliant theme tune and one of the best opening credits in tv. Episode 9, Law and Order, is an absolute gut punch, and if you can get through it without being brought to tears - well, the virus must have got you.
