“The Conceptual Meaning of Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity in the Somaliland–Somalia Context” is a legal analysis of sovereignty and territorial integrity in the Somaliland–Somalia context, arguing that Somaliland restored its original sovereignty after a failed union and that Somalia’s claim lacks legal validity.
Is #Recognizing #Somaliland illegal under #InternationalLaw? Legal scholar @EranSthoeger examines whether #RecognizingSomaliland violates international law, #TerritorialIntegrity, or @un #Principles—and why it may be lawful.

The real danger isn’t military takeover, but that great powers can apply pressure until others start making concessions.
When pressure is rewarded with talks or “processes,” it becomes a strategy.
Territorial integrity erodes through normalized coercion, not war.

If Greenland’s territorial integrity can be relativized on security grounds, then no territorial integrity in Europe remains absolute.
International law, self-determination, and sovereignty either apply consistently — or not at all.
NATO has no mandate to discuss a territory or its resources without the people concerned as an equal party.
Precedents are not created by intentions, but by what is accepted.

Text of letter to #ClareONeil:
Urgent Concern: #Australian Government Stance on US Military Action in #Venezuela
Dear Clare,
I am writing to you as a resident of Clayton South and one of your constituents, to express my profound concern regarding the recent military assault by the #UnitedStates on Venezuela and the reported #kidnapping of President Nicolás #Maduro.
This issue is deeply personal to me. Both of my grandfathers served in the Second World War. They did not enlist merely for the sake of conflict; they served to defend the principle that the world should be governed by the #ruleoflaw and the #sovereigntyofnations, rather than the "might is right" doctrine of aggressors.
As a sovereign nation and a member of the #UnitedNations, Venezuela's #territorialintegrity and leadership are protected under #internationallaw. To see a close ally bypass international norms by launching a military assault and abducting a foreign leader to face domestic trial feels like a betrayal of the very world order my grandfathers fought to establish.
I would appreciate a clear response from you on the following:
1. Support for Sovereignty: Do you, as my local representative, support an ally launching a military assault on a sovereign nation and kidnapping its president?
2. Australian Values: Does the Australian Government believe these actions align with our national commitment to a rules-based international order?
3. The ANZAC Legacy: How does the Government reconcile supporting such unilateral actions with the values of justice and sovereignty that generations of Australian service members-including my own family-have sacrificed to protect?
4. Government Position: What steps is the Australian Government taking to advocate for a peaceful, diplomatic resolution that respects international legal standards?
I am a firm believer in the "fair go," and there is nothing "fair" or lawful about the extrajudicial removal of a head of state.
I am concerned that silence or tacit support for these actions undermines our own moral standing on the world stage.
I look forward to hearing your personal views on this matter and learning how the Government intends to respond to this breach of international norms.
Yours sincerely,
Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders. The US cannot and will not take over Greenland. National borders cannot be changed by political or military force.
This is not a tactical dispute or a negotiating position. It is a matter of principle concerning international law, territorial integrity, and democratic values.

For decades, #Somaliland has been labeled “#secessionist.” This #analysis argues the label rests not on law, but on a 1991 institutional failure—when the @_AfricanUnion misapplied #TerritorialIntegrity amid #Somalia’s collapse, influenced by unresolved #ConflictsOfInterest inside its own Secretariat.
