@anthropy @micr0 AFAICK the Apps by @e_mydata ain't specifically locked to their Services and you can much easier configure your own @nextcloud / #Nextcloud server instead.

I wished fairphone would make #eOS and #LineageOS the default and charge extra for #GooglePlay / #Google'd devices instead of the other way around.

In fact I wish for #SmallerSmartphones instead of #Phablets.

Cuz I'd rather have a "#THICC #CHONKER" than a flimsy glass-sandwich...

I've decided to hold off on dropping 500USD on a 3-year old refurb and instead am dropping ~60USD on a new battery and toolkit for my OnePlus 6.

Unfortunately, it looks like replacement USB-C daughterboards for the 2e have been discontinued, in favor of Teracube's "new" 2s model (which has almost identical specs to the 2e, but completely incompatible internal hardware).

My 2e is four years old. I can't get parts for it anymore, despite the company's claim for promoting sustainability and repairability. 🤬

My OnePlus 6 is seven years old. I can still get parts for it, despite the company not promoting sustainability or repairability. 🤦‍♀️

I published my review of the year that was on my website (The New Leaf Journal) in 2024. In so doing, I put together a list of our 81 most-visited articles (according to our entirely local page-view counter). In 6th place was my 2021 article about installing Ubuntu Touch on a 2013 Google Nexus 7 (UT no longer supports the device). 10th place was my 2021 article about installing LineageOS on the same device (no longer officially supported, although there is a ROM available). 30 and 37 were two 2021 articles about my Murena Teracube 2e phone running /e/ OS (phone no longer sold but /e/ does still push updates, so that's nice). 46th place was my 2023 article on DecSync, a neat syncting utility which has not seen an update in several years. What do all these articles have in common? They are OUTDATED, or more charitably, legacy posts about things I did or used at a time certain. But these articles continue to be big parts of The New Leaf Journal, so I wanted to reassure readers that all of the devices are still alive. (I may have some articles in store about some of them in 2025.) Note the keyboard is a Logitech K310, which I used until last spring and has been out of production for several years -- that article came in at 31st.

The 81 Most-Visited Articles of 2024

As the calendar turns from 2024 to 2025, I take a look back at the year that was at The New Leaf Journal in 2024 with a review of our 81 most-visited articles.

kidling put a new screen on the teracube 2e

Glad to have hardware that recognizes #RightToRepair

I've finally switched to a degoogled #Android for my primary phone: a #Murena #eOS #Teracube2e.

Everything works very well. (I'm not sure how much proprietary firmware is involved.) It has almost monthly OS upgrades, so it took a couple days to catch up.

Until few weeks ago, I couldn't switch for lack of Signal, which isn't on f-droid. The Murena "app lounge" works surprisingly well with unauthenticated Google Play apps, but for months it didn't. Now it does.

@pinganini@mstdn.social I would like to learn how to convert my #Teracube2e to a linux capable device I just don't know where to start or what to learn.
I have a Teracube 2e running Android 11.

About 1.5 hours ago, the default alarm sound on my phone started sounding (it's Argon). Except I don't have an alarm scheduled. There's no notification in the drop down notification panel to turn off an alarm.

I verified the alarm settings: silence after 10 minutes (it's been a lot more than 10 minutes).

I cleared the cache and all stored data on the clock app, forced-stopped and disabled it. No luck.

I have rebooted my phone multiple times. Nothing has changed.

I have force-stopped all media apps (vlc, black player, yt music) on my phone just in case one of them had gone rogue and was playing the alarm audio clip. I'm pretty confident it's an alarm, because changing the "Alarm Volume" on the phone does affect it.

The only thing that makes it "stop" is Do Not Disturb with "alarm interrupt" disabled, but as soon as I turn DND off, the alarm continues. And unfortunately, I do use my phone as my alarm clock.

I did file a support ticket with Teracube, but the "we'll be in touch in 24 hours" + weekend makes me worry it will be longer. I don't have a backup phone.

I really don't want to factory reset, but will if I've exhausted all other avenues.
Anyone have a #teracube2e that would be willing to donate for a #linuxmobile porting attempt. It does not need to be in perfect condition it just needs to be operational.
@9to5linux after some reading the github pages that I found were for ASOP and /e/os neither is what I want for the #teracube2e
