Another tip for persons in the future who, for some reason, end up in possession of a #Buffalo #TeraStation #NAS running software last released in 2015:

To mount a #Samba share from the TS3400 on a modern #Linux machine, you need to explicitly provide the "vers=2.0" to mount.cifs, or add it to your fstab options.

Not doing this will result in a very nonspecific "cifs_mount failed w/return code = -22" error message.

What does cifs_mount failed w/return code = -22 indicate

I am trying sudo mount -t cifs //<server>/<share> -o username=user@domain,password=**** /mnt/<mountpoint> error message: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on //s...

I don't know who in the future this might benefit, but if you have a #Buffalo #TeraStation NAS device, and you're trying to replace a failed drive, you are *not* supposed to format the new disk before beginning the RAID Recovery process.

If you *do* format the new disk (haha oops), and the "Recover RAID Array" button just stays greyed-out, try unmounting and ejecting/reinserting the new drive. It should come back up as Unformatted, and you can use it to recover the RAID volume.

do any of you adorable nerds know how to tftp recover a #TeraStation HS-DH2.0TGL/R5? It won't boot (E-04) and we don't know how to get it to tftp recovery
