"Mood of the Day", coincidentally....

A short and light-hearted vintage movie clip from "The Gods Must Be Crazy" (2)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2ETpXwzzao

A very favorite #movie scene, IMM an ode to #tenacity - of a #HoneyBadger in this case. Wonderful music & terrain, too.

Context/setup: An academic/professor and his wife have just crash-landed onto a hot tropical island, their small prop plane badly damaged. And then this. Enjoy.

This is safer than some other similar personalities in high places.

Gotta love how #Tenacity's usage of the singleton pattern came in handy on one of my final exams 😂

A quotation from Carlyle

The last quality, perseverance, I particularly respect: it is the very hinge of all virtues. — On looking over the world, the cause of nine parts in ten of the lamentable failures which occur in men’s undertakings & darken and degrade so much of their history, lies not in the want of talents or the will to use them, but in the vacillating and desultory mode of using them — in flying from object to object, in starting away at each little disgust, and thus applying the force which might conquer any one difficulty to a series of difficulties so large that no human force can conquer them.
The smallest brook on earth, by continual running, has hollowed out for itself a considerable valley to flow in: the wildest tempest, by its occasional raging, over-turns a few cottages, uproots a few trees, and leaves after a short space no mark behind it. Commend me therefore to the Dutch virtue of perseverance! Without it all the rest are little better than fairy gold, which glitters in your purse, but when taken to the market proves to be — slate or cinders.

Thomas Carlyle (1795-1881) Scottish essayist and historian

Not too long ago, we discovered there was a fake "mirror" of #Tenacity to #SourceForge. As of today, it looks like SourceForge took it down, along with the account impersonating @gperson.

For now, we have no plans regarding SourceForge, except for the possibility of creating a legitimate redirect to prevent this from ever happening again. We are still debating that, however.

I am using #Pop_OS #Linux with #Cosmic for a while now. For everyday's work it's wonderful. But software like #Inkscape #Tenacity #Ardour etc. keep crashing all the time and are barely usable. Does anyone has made the same experience?
Starting in 1.4, we plan to upgrade #Tenacity's license from the GPL v2 (or later) to GPL v3 (or later). Most source files going forward, unless otherwise stated, will be available under the GPL v2 or later and will continue to be that way. However, if we want #ASIO support, we would probably have to backport some changes to 1.3.5 to allow for making GPL v3 (or later) builds. This shouldn't be much of an issue, but we're not completely sure how well this would work.

Today on Experimenting with #Tenacity: doing something naive and bypassing Tenacity's "backed bitmap" system and instead drawing directly to the screen.

Turns out that this MAY actually lead to a small improvement (in the tenths of a millisecond, judging by the Frame Statistics dialog in Tenacity itself), at least on Linux under KDE Wayland. However, Spectrogram redrawing may suffer from a performance hit, but alas, that's broken at the moment due to other reasons (not sure why, but that's usually the theme for things in Tenacity).

The next thing to do would be if maybe we could get an improvement over using a regular wxPaintDC by using wxGraphicsContext on Windows. There may still be additional time added because you'd also have to create a wxGCDC, but I'm still interested in such an experiment.

How many times will I enter the Playa del Fuego Swag Button design contest and lose before I give up submitting designs? I think this is at least my 6th try.

Palm Sunday; The King Who Came Differently

Palm Sunday is the hallmark for the beginning of the most important week in human history. This was the moment when Jesus entered Jerusalem, not in secrecy, but in fulfillment of prophecy, revealing Himself as King. However, the way He came to earth challenged every expectation. Today, we are invited to examine not only who Jesus is, but whether we are truly receiving Him as He is. 📖Bible Verses “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” — Mark 11:9 “See, your […]

Faithfulness Matters More Than Speed

In a world that celebrates speed and success, God is quietly honoring something much deeper, faithfulness. 📖“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ Matthew 25:21 God is not asking you to be the fastest, He’s asking you to be faithful. In a world obsessed with results and recognition, it’s easy to feel like you’re falling behind. But in God’s […]
