Dear @avilewis I believe you have a plank already about this… but time to turn up the volume.

Today Rogers have added national insult to our telecommunication oligarchy injury. They have taken away Hockey Night in Canada and Bell and Telus continue to fleece Canadians as well (look up their latest illegal fee…)

Enough is enough. The privatization and deregulation experiment has failed. Canadians are poorer, less cohesive, and less able to experience all that Canada and the world has to offer regardless of their station in life or technological ability. This started in the 80s. It must end now.

It is time to take back our national pastimes and restore the expectation that every Canadian can communicate through equal and free access to communications.

1) Nationalize all telecommunication infrastructure under the CRTC.

2) Nationalize Bell, Rogers, Telus, and Quebecor media assets into the CBC.

3) Restore ad free CBC broadcasts across all platforms.

4) Provide Fibre home Internet, TV, and Mobile connectivity to every Canadian for $10 a month within 5 years.

Several Canadian carriers have made changes to comply with new rules banning activation fees, but some are fighting back.

So came home to my apartment and saw a notice that Telus is shutting down service in the building. Why? The building is not equipped for Fibre...my initial reaction was "so? get it equipped then."

Guessing either Telus wanted money to equip the building and the landlord didn't want to pay it. Or Rogers whispered into the landlords ear ala Lord of the Rings

Shame since a Fibre line from the city runs down the street and they prefer leasing it to smaller providers. Seems like a wasted opportunity to get cheaper providers into the building. Guess we are now stuck with Robbers now.

I was a happy Shaw customer for many years before the buyout and the service has been less than stellar ever since.

@Bowreality Surely not as bad as #Telus? Is that possible? :)
🇨🇦 As of today, June 12, Canadians can switch wireless and internet service providers without getting hit with activation or switching fees. The CRTC’s ban on these fees puts an end to the $80 connection fees that #Rogers, #Telus, #Bell and their flanker brands have been charging.
I’m done with apps!! Every month I fight to get into my TELUS app or the website to see my bill. I’m constantly changing my password. It’s annoying as hell. Today I called them and requested a paper bill. I’m getting closer and closer to going back to a flip phone and paper communications! Ugh!! #Apps #TELUS #Paperbills
