πŸ€” What's really behind the call to "learn to build on the ideas of others" broadcasted by Microsoft? We should be cautious, especially given its past history of the "Embrace, Extend, Extinguish" strategy it's used for dominance in the past.

This post from @Edent is really spot-on about our #techprivilege problem:

The #web experience of those without fancy devices (or for anyone wanting speed, accessibility and freedom) may be negatively impacted by a lack of empathy for their needs.

#Tech privilege allows us to implement bad practices ranging from usability to privacy.

If we decide to make the web about sharing information instead of taking it, the world will be better.

Need: Simple. Fast. Private.

We can try to overcome "Tech Privilege" by constantly asking ourselves questions about the ethics of our actions.

This can have far-reaching impact from #Privacy, #CyberSecurity, ease-of-use, #Acessibility, info sharing, algorithmic manipulation and more.

#TechPrivilege means that someone in control of anything related to technology (the #Web, #Hardware, #IOT, #Games, #Development, #Design, etc.) performs or creates an action without understanding or empathy of the greater social impact.
