I've just published my first LaTeX package!
Countwords is a simple package for counting words in LaTeX documents. Words are counted into a standard LaTeX counter, which can then printed (or otherwise manipulated) in all the normal ways. You can stop and counting whenever you want, and have multiple independent counters.
It's on CTAN here: https://ctan.org/pkg/countwords
P.S. credit to Philipp Gesang @phgsng for the original lua wordcount code.
When did mathematicians start pronouncing the union symbol as "cup" during talks? I feel like this conference is the first time I've heard that, but it's happened multiple times.
I especially want to know: which came first, the pronunciation or the \cup (La)TeX command?
So, regarding #TeXAndLaTeX:
Is there a particular editor that is generally recommended if I want to properly format a novel or whatever for potential #SelfPublishing?
After the great overleaf debacle this morning had a bunch of masters students (and other academics with deadlines) panicking, I set up my own instance.
It was surprisingly easy, the hardest part was getting mail sending and not getting rejected (I needed a PTR for rDNS in the end, SPF, DMARC and DKIM were not enough apparently).
I was going to start using overleaf for some writing anyway...so why not!

reminder: escape your special characters
just chased one through multiple files and output logs

ICYMI, the LaTeX minted package has been completely rewritten and now uses its own Python executable. Read the docs before using the new 3.0.0 version! #TeXLaTeX #TeXAndLaTeX
