Prominent #Māori health leader Lady Tureiti Moxon has filed a human rights complaint to the #UN over "systemic discrimination" of Māori in #NewZealand.

In her submission, Moxon alleges a "significant and persistent pattern of political racial discrimination against iwi Māori" and that since late 2023* a series of government actions have reversed progress towards fulfilling New Zealand's obligations under the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

* Late 2023 represents the election of the current #NZPol #Luxon led coalition of colonialists, prioritising and working for foreign interests such as #AtlasNetwork the #MilitaryIndustrialComplex extractive businesses #FossilFuels and #Mining.

The founding document of #Aotearoa NZ #TeTiritiOWaitangi serves as a safeguard against foreign exploitation and environmental destruction. The divisive attacks against both te tiriti and the #indigenous Māori is a threat to all people who call NZ home whether they be tangata whenua or tangata tiriti.

For anyone who doesn’t know the “NZ Initiative” is an associate member of the #AtlasNetwork a global right wing anti indigenous, sovereign and democratic movement that uses a network of groups, individuals and media to influence domestic politics and exploit resources. There should be absolutely no doubt that the NZ Initiative is involved with attacking #TeTiritiOWaitangi the teaching of #Aotearoa #NewZealand colonial history and the indigenous reo of Aotearoa.

Shame on #RNZ #Newsroom and NZ on Air for promoting and funding this anti sovereignty campaign.

Also, call out any and all casual #racism.

I was recently talking with a NZ business man I know (of my age) about advice on the possibility of doing business with someone they also knew.

I was absolutely astounded when he casually said yeah he might be worth approaching, unfortunately he is very Jewish.

I asked; sorry what? Do you mean he is pro Israel's genocide?

No, I mean he's tight with $.

Out of nowhere I said Wow, I haven't heard that particular smear since I was in primary school.

Which now, looking back, seems why it is so important to include #TeTiritiOWaitangi history and te reo as part of NZ school's education and celebrate the multiples of ethnicity's, cultures, faiths and languages. Children learning and understanding about the people in their communities and everyday lives is critical for a united country. Te Tiriti o Waitangi is the vehicle that brought us all together and te tiriti should be our guiding light moving forward.

#GiveNothingToRacism

In response to #NZPol Erica Stanford's statement that #TeTiritiOWaitangi is the Crown's responsibility not teachers, I would simply say upholding and honoring te tiriti is the responsibility of every one who calls this whenua home.

The Waitangi Tribunal of Aotearoa/New Zealand just turned 50 years old! In that time it has had a massive positive impact on the entire country, and even beyond these shores:

"In the end, it’s about relationships. Te Tiriti was always meant to be a partnership – a mutually beneficial agreement between peoples. That vision still exists. Māori haven’t withdrawn the invitation. The door is still open and we’re seeing more and more people walk through it.

That’s what gives us hope. The future of this country will not be shaped solely by whoever is in power at any given moment. It’s being shaped every day by teachers, parents, kaumātua, rangatahi, social workers, union delegates, health workers, and neighbours – people who are choosing honesty over defensiveness, and connection over fear."

The government may be turning away from te Tiriti – but the people aren’t

In town halls and classrooms, a quiet revolution for te Tiriti is underway.

The Spinoff

Very powerful koreo from Te Pāti Māori MP Tākuta Harris in defiance of the colonial government once again failing to honour the Crown’s obligations to #Māori, also strongly defending the mana of #Haka, #indigenous rights and #TeTiritiOWaitangi, the founding document of #Aotearoa #NewZealand.

The empty seats in #NZPol parliament for the next 21 sitting days will be a great reminder to the people of Aotearoa of the Crown’s continued failure to honour the Treaty of Waitangi and its efforts to silence any objectors.

Every NZer whether tangata whenua or tangata tiriti should be deeply ashamed to be represented by such dishonest and dishonourable people.

The way this #NZPol ignorant racist government parades its racism and disrespect for #Māori and #TeTiritiOWaitangi is not only shameful and alarming it's also very embarrassing for the #Mana of #Aotearoa #NewZealand.
