There’s a lot of media history that quietly disappears — especially TV adverts.

This channel archives UK commercial breaks from the 80s to early 2000s: the jingles, formats, and cultural details that rarely get preserved.

If that’s your thing, follow or subscribe. New uploads regularly.

Does anyone remember the Persil washing powder #TVAdverts from the 80s? It proudly announced that it gave your whites a *bluey whiteness*. Well, I've discovered a much cheaper way to do the same. Just add two dark blue pillow cases to your mostly white bedclothes wash and hey presto!

I should point out that these are not new blue pillow cases. I've had them almost a year and even washed them once or twice before. Ho hum.

Okay, part of the reason #tvcommercials from 25+ years ago are better is not only because they gave a damn, but because part of it was they wanted to give the appearance of quality as well.

Just in case you take requests...

I'm trying to find a #TVAdverts from the #1980s. I'm pretty sure it was for #cider (but I can't be certain). It was animated and featured a caterpillar sitting a table in a country pub garden. He's passing pints up with one set of arms and the empty glasses down the other side with the other set. He looks up at the butterflies flying around and and says "You'll never catch me up in one of those things".

Love to see it again. 🙂

This one is a long shot. I'm trying to find a #TVAdverts from the #1980s. I'm pretty sure it was for #cider (but I can't be certain). I thought it was a great joke. Still do.

Anyone got any ideas?

I'm thinking of starting a youtube channel to take the piss out of UK TV adverts. One of my favourites are car adverts that look great but the small print basically says that you can't have this now and you might never be allowed it.

All whilst telling you that you that your lifestyle is incomplete without it.

One of the current ones asks us "who said electric cars were dull?", the answer to which is of course, no one dumbass. #TVAdverts
