Switched to Fedora (KDE) on my @tuxedocomputers InfinityBook 14, and it’s way better than the TuxedoOS in a few important regards:

The battery life no longer sucks. I get 3-4 hours instead of 1.5. I’m overall disappointed with the battery life but it is what it is. Just feels like a fresh fedora setup is better optimised for this machine somehow. That, and the OS was pre installed on the wrong ssd (the slow one), and u wonder if that contributed at all.

The audio works. The laptop shipped with non functional audio via its speakers. Headphones worked but the laptop by itself did not. It caused video to play slowly and stutter too, unless headphones were used.

I prefer the polish to Fedora over Tuxedo/Ubuntu OSes.. and now running it on the desktop too I get a lot of similar configs working for free.

If you own one of these machines and opted for preinstalled software, I highly recommend trying another OS.

Okay, just got a #tuxedo #linux laptop. I am not able to figure out how to use the file manager (#dolphin) in root mode. All the solutions suggested by articles (e. g. https://www.adamsdesk.com/posts/dolphin-enable-administrator-root-access/) are not working. In linux mint it was fairly easy.

Does anybody has experience with #tuxedoos?

Fun with NVidia garbage drivers pt. XXXX

TUXEDO OS and Ubuntu 24.04 LTS got a new update for Nvidia and it breaks wayland on multi GPU Notebooks seen on 580 and 595 driver versions observed on a AMD Ryzen 7 6800H with Radeon Graphics & NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Mobile / Max-Q combination on Kernel 6.17.0-121035-tuxedo

So my guess would be the bug is in the nvidia-firmware blob

I'm having problems with my #TuxedoOS / #Ubuntu / #Linux laptop doesn't recognize when I plug in an HDMI cable, unless I restart the laptop with the HDMI inside.

Suffice to say, having to reboot the laptop before a presentation is not very ideal. Anyone experienced a similar issue and know the solution?

As friends, relatives and colleagues keep asking me for a beginner-friendly Linux distribution, and as I’m also looking to see if there’s anything other than LinuxMint out there, I’ve installed and tested TUXEDO-OS in a virtual machine once again. I have to say, a lot has changed, and it really could be a good alternative to Mint for people who aren’t put off by the sheer number of possible settings.

Mit bissel Aufwand konnten wir gestern zum Nachbarschafts-Café einen rüstigen ACER-Laptop mit div. Viren- und Trojanerwarnungen von Windows 11 auf #TuxedoOS umbasteln.
Läuft ziemlich flott jetzt und die Warnungen sind irgendwie auch alle weg. 🤷

#ACER hatte im BIOS allerdings die Einstellungen zum SATA-Mode sehr sehr gut versteckt.

Why is it that Plasma has 19 options for the compose key but Gnome only 10? Both are on Wayland with the same keyboard layout (US-Intl with Alt-Gr dead keys), the first with Tuxedo OS (Ubuntu derivative) and the latter in plain Ubuntu 26.04. The Plasma setting is really convenient on this type of keyboard, because it means I can use a duplicated key (backslash) for Compose.

@tuxedocomputers Hi Tuxedo Computers ! I was wondering what was the roadmap for #tuxedoos in the next few months ? Plasma 6.6 ? Maybe Ubuntu 26.04LTS ? Maybe another base os ?? Is there a place to track these future developments decisions ?
