ABD’nin Ortadoğu’ya asker göndermesi ve İran ile müzakerelerdeki belirsizlik gibi gelişmeler sonrası Brent petrol fiyatı haftaya yükselişle başladı, Asya borsalarıysa düşüşte. Asya piyasalarında Brent petrol fiyatı yaklaşık %3 yükselerek 115 doların üstüne çıktı. Japonya Nikkei 225 borsası haftaya yaklaşık %4,5’lik bir düşüşle, Güney Kore Kospi borsasıysa %3,5’lik düşüşle başladı. Petrol fiyatları geçen haftayı 112 dolar civarında kapamıştı. ABD ve İsrail’in 28 Şubat’ta İran’a saldırmasından sonra petrol fiyatları ciddi şekilde arttı. İran saldırılara misilleme olarak, dünyanın en yoğun petrol nakliye yollarından biri olan Hürmüz Boğazı’nı fiilen kapatmış durumda. Dünyanın petrol ve sıvılaştırılmış doğal gazının (LNG) yaklaşık %20’si normalde bu boğazdan geçiyor. Dolayısıyla savaş birlikte küresel yakıt fiyatları yükseldi. Savaş öncesiyse petrolün varil fiyatı 72 dolar civarıydı.
