I attended the #vcfsw in Dallas at the UTDallas campus this weekend. Quite a show! It's considerably smaller than those in Chicago or New Jersey, but still an excellent opportunity to see some vintage hardware in person and attend presentations from some original creators in the industry. The primary focus this year was #texasinstruments and the #TMS9900 and #TMS9918 chips.

“É o caminhão do garbage collector passando na sua rua!” - Retrópolis

Falamos do Web Rendering Proxy em outra execução do garbage collector; legal, bacana, mas na prática não é assim muito usável não, especialmente se você quer navegar na rede mundial de computadores com seu workstation Unix. Para resolver isso, o Tenox foi para outra solução, o VNCFOX: um container com Firefox e um servidor TightVNC.

Some progress with my SVG processor!

Leftmost: original SVG
From left to right:
8-bit renderer
32-bit renderer (256 colours)
OpenGL ES renderer (24-bit colours)

The colour differences between the SVG original and my renderers can be explained by me not parsing the opacity

Another for #TI994April -- that time someone called in response to an ad I had placed in the paper to sell my well-expanded TI-99/4A system ... to convince me NOT to sell it, back in 1984.

A Phone Call I've Remembered These 28 Long Years... - Byte Cellar

My first home computer was the TI-99/4A from Texas Instruments. I wanted to get a “real computer” (I had an Atari 2600 at the time), I bugged my parents, and I got to choose from what was on the (1982) … Continue reading →

Byte Cellar

This is a '99er.

Check out this TI-99/4A setup ... collection ... room. It's the most impressive TI-99 situation I've ever beheld. Just, wow. Posted by John Carr on Facebook, showing the culmination of his lifetime of collecting.

Got my new #TMS9918 video card for my #RC2014 from @shieladixon today! Along with the YM2149 card I already had, I now have more period-accurate hardware for the Z80 CPU.

Using NTSC composite on a modern flat-screen TV is not ideal, but it all worked out, once I read the instructions on the jumper configuration, out of the box. Looking forward to exploring this more - and maybe, in the process, learning enough to help me with the TMS9918's evolutionary descendants in the Master System and Mega Drive.
