With mutual aid, “scammer” works like “terrorist” in a propaganda sense; not because the situations are identical in scale, but because the label functions similarly. It shuts down moral attention. It tells people, “Do not look at the conditions, do not look at the need, do not look at the system. Look at this person as a threat.”

And then people get to feel righteous while doing nothing. Worse, they get to feel righteous while humiliating someone who is already cornered.

Patriarchy harms women, then calls women cruel when they stop being gentle.

Colonial power brutalises the colonised, then calls resistance terrorism.

Capitalism and state abandonment disable people, make people desperate, then call public survival requests scams.
