Tip #820

Sort tabs by relation in the Windows and Tabs Panel for a tree-style view.

If you have a ton of tabs open, viewing them in a tree-style layout allows you to get a hierarchical overview of all your browser windows, Workspaces, Tabs Stacks and Tabs. See the child-parent relation, reorder tabs, collapse/expand groups, and more.

To switch to a tree-style view in the Windows and Tabs Panel:

  • Open the Windows and Tabs Panel.
  • Click on the sorting menu between the search field and the list of tabs.
  • Select โ€œSort by Related Tab Treeโ€.

Initab is a Chrome New Tab Extension for developers that offers a solution to continually having too many tabs open.

@zl2tod @_elena Thank you much for very useful tip!I had many tabs indeed because I need them to keep a list of people from my "Notifications" who followed me to examine their profiles whether I want to follow back.

Why doesn't the error message say "Mastodon doesn't support tabs, close tabs"?And why does the message deliberately prevent typing? This way I don't know what to do to get rid of the message.

Also, how am I supposed to keep a list of people from my Notifications who followed me to examine their profiles whether I want to follow back?Just hovering over each of them takes about 10 seconds to display whether they follow me or not, which is a huge waste of time.

Have Mastodon authors actually tried to use Mastodon?I guess not.Did Mastodon do UX testing?

This is a question for all Vivaldi users out there.

Starting somewhere over the last couple of days, when I open the browser, there is now a pinned Google tab that I never opened and do not want to open when I start my browser. In fact, I don't ever want a Google tab to open.

I assume this is due to an update recently, so does anyone know how I can disable this from happening, please?

Anyone on the @Vivaldi team that knows what is causing this?

You should be able to add a document tab to a spreadsheet

Writing prose in spreadsheet cells is ugly and awkward and why have we just tolerated it for so long?

    Tip #814

Make the right choice between closing and deleting Tab Stacks on mobile.

Tab Stacks in Vivaldi on Android and iOS can be both closed and deleted. Though it sounds like they should do the same thing, there is an important differences between them.

Closing a stack will remove the group of tabs from the Tab Bar and the open tabs view in the Tab Switcher, but it will keep the stack available in the Tab Stacks view in the Tab Switcher. That way you can declutter your actively used tabs view, but easily access the stack again whenever you need it.

Deleting a stack, expectedly, will actually delete the stack and close all tabs in it. But if you deleted the stack when you meant to close it, you can still recover the tabs for a while from the Closed Tabs view in the Tab Switcher or from History.
