#Trolley loaded up with #toolboxes , largest breaker bar and #torquewrench I normally use (to check if they fit) and smol #Lenovo #T460s mini #laptop - plenty of room (lower shelf is not visible in the picture but #smartcharger and another toolbox fit comfortably there.
The laptop will also rest on a Makpac (Makita boxes which I have for my drill and impact wrench) - I would not normally have all of these toolboxes out at the same time anyway so there's plenty of room on the trolley for any job I would need to do.
Just need to reorganise my main tool storage area in the comms room tomorrow evening, to free up some space to make getting the trolley in and out easier (its going to piss down with rain again, so I won't be working out in the yard)
Result: trade association I do work decomssioned #Lenovo #T460s #laptop as defective due to poor audio and battery life, generally being flaky and not Win11 compatible - I was told as long as data wiped I could strip it for parts or do whatever I wished with it, they don't want it any more as enduser has a nicer Lenovo refurb with bigger screen I set up for them a few months ago.
Thought there was a worse fault, but it seems just the speakers are goosed, and it wasn't that difficult to source replacements.
Managed to force Win11 onto it with #Rufus USB Also installed 2 new aftermarket and the laptop is still running 3 hours later (there are reasons I want Win11 and decent battery life, which will be shown in the next toot)
Damn! Looks like my beloved #Thinkpad #T460s is nearing its end of life.
A few weeks ago, the trackpad started not working randomly - since today it's now completely dead.
Now, it doesn't recognize the 16GB of the second RAM DIMM anymore and there are every now and then weird interference-like distortions on the external display.
If it was just a single component, I'd repair it in a heartbeat, but this feels more like total system failure.
Framework or hunt for a refurbished Thinkpad?
The secondary #battery of my #LenovoThinkpad #T460s was completely dead, which somehow confused the whole battery management and it just turned off after 3 minutes, even when the primary battery still had a sufficient charge left.
Replaced now both and after 3 full charge/discharge cycles for initial calibration, #UPower reports the secondary battery now at only 77% capacity left, which I'd expected after 500-600 cycles or so.
Where do those numbers come from? UPower itself? Battery internal?
