Today, I installed Linux Mint Debian Edition 7 on a ThinkPad T420 laptop for a customer.

Dual boot with Windows 10. So I manually created the root partition in the installer. I decided to set up a swap file instead of a partition for swap.

Eine #ssd die ich bei der Arbeit aus der "Schrottkiste" gefischt habe ist eine eher alte Intel 335 180GB SSD. Ich dachte die taugt nix, hab die bei der Arbeit unter Winslop gestest und die hat nur 74 Stunden auf dem Buckel.

Firmware ist aktuell, der Bug von dem die damals betroffen war ist also behoben.

Mein #T420 freut sich schon.

Bin mal wieder an überlegen, ob ich auf mein altes #Lenovo #ThinkPad #T420 #libreboot drauf packe. Warum? Weil's geht... wäre auch mal wieder ein wenig interessante Bastelei. Muss mal schauen, ob ich das wirklich mal mache, schließlich muss man dafür das ganze Notebook zerlegen, um an das BIOS ran zu kommen.

Some success on the #Lenovo #T420 ... Ubuntu 20.04 installed and (shock) managed to boot from the hard drive afterwards. I guess there's a few months of support if it doesn't update successfully to a later version ... Probably adequate for what I need. For what it's with this machine previously this machine had RHEL8 install on it.
I'll keep positive and say that tomorrow I'll hopefully get something more productive done on this system ... (although I need k3s and that's not in the 20.04 repos)
