Then she sang “The Way We Were,” the winning Oscar song from the 1973 film *Like a Beginning*, directed by Sydney Pollack and starring the two of them. “I miss my intellectual cowboy more than ever, even though he loved to tease me,” she added. Streisand also recalled their last phone call: “He said to me: ‘Babs, I love you with all my soul, and I will always love you.
