After many years in the US Department of State, frequent travel, living and working out of a suitcase, a fulfilling but exhausting career, she wanted to “land the plane”, as she herself says. To improve the quality of the voluntary carbon market Donna Lee and partner Duncan van Bergen set up Calyx Global.

Paths to a sustainability university
To counter the climate crisis, fundamental societal change is just as indispensable as groundbreaking technological innovation. Universities, as places of research and transfer, have an outstanding role to play in this. On May 31, in a fishbowl format entitled “The Role of Universities in the Climate Crisis and Climate Policy,” members of TUM discussed how this role can be shaped. The event is part of the Environmental Lecture Series organized by the Environmental Department of TUM‘s Student Council in the summer semester 2023.

Students as pioneers of sustainability
Sustainability is one of the most important topics at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) - and one that affects almost all areas of research, teaching and operations. Since 2022, there has been the TUM Sustainable Futures Strategy 2030 and, since this year, the office of Vice President for Sustainable Transformation. Prof. Werner Lang, holder of the Chair for Energy Efficient and Sustainable Planning and Building, has taken on this role.
