Followed up with the 2018 version. It's still fucking weird, not for the faint of heart, and not as beautiful as the original, but the acting is much better, the dancing more modern and actually kind of beautiful, and overall it's simply way more compatible with modern audiences, including the horror scenes. 7/10, I'd say.
I'm not sure what I think about the Germany-related subplot, but I've enjoyed the design of 1970s Berlin and the other story changes they made.
I've just watched Suspiria (1977), and … it's a ride.
The story is a mess, the horror elements have aged poorly, some of the acting is a bit cheesy, and the pacing feels all over the place.
But once you're looking past that, and past the sometimes weird set design, it's a fucking gorgeous movie. The colors are just … something else.
(And yes, there's more than one person in the film, but I'm absolutely in love with Jessica Harper's outfit in this part of the movie.)
