My #surfacelinux has been down since I attempted to upgrade from #Fedora43 to #Fedora44. Libwacom-surface broke and it wouldn't boot. I tried fixing this for days and was quite unsucessful.

Today, I was determined to just backup its data, cause I could still log to console, and erase it to install #Debian

That was when I stumbled upon this issue:

https://github.com/linux-surface/linux-surface/issues/2094

and that solution fixed my problem. The machine is back working and I'm backing up everything just in case.

KDE Plasma Mobile on Surface Pro 4

https://lemmy.world/post/46861392

Seeking help of #Fedora and #Surface users. I fucked up the upgrade to #Fedora44, as in the upgrade completely successfully but now my Surface Go 1 doesn't boot.

It fails due to libwacom replacing libwacom-surface and crashing upon boot.

I can log into the console, I cannot spawn a graphical niri session.

I can't uninstall libwacom cause plasma desktop uses it and plasma desktop is a protected package cause this is Fedora KDE spin even though I use Niri now.

Not sure how to solve this. Plz boost.

As far as I am aware #SurfaceLinux project didn't released a kernel or patches for Fedora 44 yet.

My last try to acclimate with a #MSWindows OS was years ago after I left IBM when I bought a #SurfaceGo tablet. It didn’t work. Even though I liked the hardware, I didn’t use it.
Now I’ve given it a second life. I set it up with #Ubuntu #Linux using the #SurfaceLinux project.

Everything works fine but the pen. But Ian not sure if the pen still works at all.

Hey folks! How is your surfacelinux-experience so far? Which hardware do you use and which distro brings the best experience at the moment in your opinion? (Currently I’m using Ubuntu on my SP9, but I’m curious if there are already equal or better options, since I’m not really a fan of Ubuntu…) Have a nice day! ~sp3ctre

So I'm trying out #Fedora 43's #KDE spin on my #SurfacePro 9 with a live USB. I know about #SurfaceLinux if I decide to go all in with it. The network browser in Dolphin seems to be using '.local' for my instead of the search domain configured in /etc/resolv.conf. This seems to cause authentication to fail trying to access shares. I can manually type in the right hostname, but curious why it's putting that '.local' in there at all.

How to deal with video projectors not supporting Surface's 3:2 aspect ratio ?

How to deal with video projectors not supporting Surface's 3:2 aspect ratio ? - jlai.lu

Hi, When connecting to a video projector in duplicate mode, the Surface monitor has to be set to a resolution with an aspect ratio of 16:9 because video projectors don’t support 3:2. Is there any way to keep the Surface monitor at optimal resolution and aspect ratio while sending a resized 16:9 video to the projector, i.e. displaying black borders on the external monitor instead of the internal one ? Thanks

Switched my Surface pro 7 to Fedora today, in no small part thanks to the good people maintaining #surfacelinux
All in order, this will make a nice drawing tablet for the little ones, without all the #windows11 bullshit and spyware.
Not gonna lie, this one feels extra special 😄
