Uh oh. My Small Long Black just cost me $5. Plus the 6c #surcharge for privilege of paying mill owner for permission to come t'work.
This means I'm one price rise away from probably giving up #coffee.

I am old enough to remember when there were no surcharges on debit and credit cards.

Somehow, businesses didn’t go bankrupt.

Perhaps the owners were smarter then and knew how to calculate the cost of doing business and set prices accordingly.

PS. Weren’t businesses having a whinge recently about the cost of moving cash around?

Alors que l'Espagne et le Portugal recouvrent la fourniture d'électricité, c'est l'île de La Palma qui, en ce 8 mai 2025, jour de commémoration, est privée d'électricité ce matin. L'origine localisée, la coupure ne dure que deux heures.

Concernant la panne totale de la péninsule ibérique, elle remémore l'expérience italienne du 28 septembre 2003. De neuf à dix-huit heures, les Italiens sont sans énergie. Dans un rapport de 128 pages, l'UCTE explique le phénomène. Mais la part d'énergies renouvelables, donc non contrôlées, rend le partage difficile avec celles contrôlées que sont l'hydraulique et le nucléaire.

fees on #square #EFTPOS #payments is 1.9% so put that for #surcharge (google for steps, it isn't obvious) or it is very hard to calculate the correct percentage surcharge so customer pays full amount plus surcharge - it is cheaper with a subscription at 1.6% but for me with low sales it is not worth paying for a subscription of $49/mth for that - #cash is so much easier as it has no fees and works when technology is down - just in remote parts there are no ATMs or shops with EFTPOS to get #cash so #EFTPOS with its fees is the main way to accept payment via #creditcards or #debitcards
