I’m so angry at the way the press (and the government) have latched onto the vandalism of statues to discredit Saturday’s demo.
Yes, that was stupid and disrespectful - i mean, Millicent Garrett Fawcett and Nelson Mandela for God’s sake! - but the atmosphere at the demo was overwhelmingly peaceful, well-mannered, good-humoured and law-abiding.
There were THOUSANDS of trans people & allies there.
A few idiots engage in vandalism and it’s as if the rest of us don’t exist and weren’t there.

So glad I went to the trans rights demo on Saturday. Great atmosphere (a real sense of a community and its allies coming together). Huge crowds. It was arranged at short notice but there were many thousands of us!
I almost didn’t go as I hate crowds, my mental health isn’t great and I’m cynical about what difference these things make.
