IDF Says There Won’t Be Major Fights Left In Lebanon Within A Few Days

Following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s declaration of direct talks with the Lebanese government for potential peace, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that within a few days, there won’t be major fights remaining in Lebanon although it might have to engage in limited fighting with the leftover Hezbollah terrorists in specific parts of the country, according to a news report by The Jerusalem Post.

The IDF on Monday said that once it completes its operation against Hezbollah in Bint Jbil in southern Lebanon in the coming days, there will not be any remaining major fights for it to undertake in the area.

In addition, the IDF added that there were still several areas where it would continue to clear Hezbollah weapons that it had found during its invasion of southern Lebanon. Such clearing operations could continue for a longer, somewhat indefinite period.

Further, the IDF might still engage in limited fighting with leftover Hezbollah forces in parts of southern Lebanon who have not withdrawn north of the Litani River with most of Hezbollah’s other forces.

Division 98 caught Hezbollah’s dozens or more fighters there by surprise, surrounding them from all sides before they could find a way to retreat and escape.

The Givati Brigade, the Paratroopers Brigade, and multiple commando units, including Maglan, have been involved in the battles in and around Bint Jbil.

Since Division 98 entered the Bint Jbil area, the IDF said that it has successfully eliminated rocket fire on Israel from the area.

Given that some of the heaviest fire from Lebanon had been from Bint Jbil, this has also reduced Hezbollah’s ability to fire on northern Israel in broader strategic terms.

That said, Hezbollah still has significant volumes of rockets that can strike northern Israel from deeper parts of Lebanon beyond the Litani River.

The IDF admitted that despite a huge invasion of southern Lebanon for three months in the fall of 2024, it had failed to fully clear Bint Jbil of weapons at the time.

This current invasion of Bint Jbil is, in part, a corrective measure for that oversight. In addition to Division 98, Divisions 162, 146, 91, and 36 are operating in southern Lebanon.

Collectively, the IDF has killed around 1,400 Hezbollah fighters, around 100 in the Bint Jbil area.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday announced that his cabinet would begin ceasefire and Hezbollah disarmament talks with Lebanon “as soon as possible,” in light of the current active warfront between the IDF and Hezbollah and the upcoming peace talks with Iran in Islamabad.

Netanyahu’s decision was motivated by “Lebanon’s repeated requests to open direct negotiations with Israel,” the prime minister said, adding that “negotiations will focus on disarming Hezbollah and establishing peaceful relations between Israel and Lebanon.”

Israel Eliminates Lebanese Resistance Brigade Commander And Also Hezbollah Chief’s Secretary

The IDF said Thursday killed Maher Qassem Hamdan, the Commander of the Lebanese Resistance Brigades terrorist organization in the Chebaa area in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, in addition to seven others fleeing the area.

Hamdan was responsible for terrorist recruitment, weapons supply, and funding the Lebanese Resistance Brigades in Chebaa, according to the IDF, which added that the organization is funded by the Hezbollah terror organization and is connected to it directly.

The IDF also said Thursday that it killed Ali Yusuf Harshi, a close aide to Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem, in a strike in Beirut on Wednesday, as part of a broader wave of attacks on Hezbollah infrastructure across Lebanon.

Moreover, the IDF said later Thursday that it carried out a strike in the Sidon area, killing Maher Qassem Hamdan, commander of the Lebanese Brigades in the Shebaa region, along with eight additional operatives who were attempting to flee the area.

Meanwhile, troops from the 215th Fire Brigade killed in recent days over 70 Hezbollah terrorists, including a cell preparing mortar fire against Israeli forces, the IDF said.

Earlier on Thursday, the IDF published footage of Paratroopers Brigade troops operating under the 98th Division during ground operations in southern Lebanon over the past week, targeting dozens of Hezbollah operatives and uncovering hidden weapons.

The military said troops moved into additional areas as part of efforts to establish operational control and reinforce Israel’s forward defensive line along the northern border. The operations were aimed at removing threats to Israeli civilians in the north while degrading Hezbollah’s infrastructure in the area, according to the military.

Another Filipina Worker In Israel Dies From Iranian Missile Attack, Husband And Family Members Also Killed

Not so long after the Philippines met with and made agreements with the Islamic terrorist regime of Iran (click here and here), another Filipina worker died in Israel as a result of an Iranian missile attack, according to the official statement of the Israeli Embassy in the Philippines and the news article by the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

The Embassy of the State of Israel in the Philippines expresses its deepest condolences following the tragic loss of four members of a family, including a young Filipino woman who chose to build her life with her husband in Israel, in an Iranian missile strike on Haifa on the evening of April 5, 2026.

The victims were Vladimir Gershovich, 73; his wife, Lena Ostrovsky, 68; their only son, Dmitry (Dima) Gershovich, 42; and his wife, Lucille Jane Gershovich, a 29-year-old Filipino citizen. Dima and Lucille were married in April 2024.

Two generations of one family were killed in this attack, another stark reminder that the Iranian regime continues to target civilians indiscriminately.

Israel stands in profound solidarity with the bereaved family and the Filipino community, and shares in the grief over the loss of a Filipino life. We mourn together and honor their memory with dignity.

Lucille’s family has asked that their privacy be respected as they observe this period of mourning. May their souls rest in peace.

A Filipino was killed in a missile attack in Israel on April 5 as conflict in the Middle East continues, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed on Tuesday.

The Filipina died alongside her Israeli husband and elderly parents-in-law inside a residence in Haifa on Sunday evening.

The DFA did not provide further details and identification but said the victim’s next of kin had been informed and that the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv is providing assistance.

Post-October 7 identity – The survey also revealed that the events surrounding October 7, 2023, and their aftermath have had a profound impact on young people’s relationship with their faith and Jewish traditions.

More than half (57%) of respondents indicated that their sense or practice of religious faith has grown stronger since October 7, while 54% reported a heightened connection to Jewish tradition.

This surge in religious identification comes amid an overwhelming sense of pride in their Israeli identity. 68% of respondents expressed pride in being Israeli, with 46% calling Israel a “very good” place to live, and 36% labeling it a “good” place to live, culminating in a 79% overall satisfaction rate with life in Israel.

Breaking these sentiments down further, young Israelis aged 18-20 are the most proud to be Israeli, with 75% expressing strong national pride. Religious individuals also showed a higher level of national pride, with 85% affirming they were very proud to be Israeli.

Reserves Service – The survey also sheds light on Israel’s high military readiness, with 18% of young people having served in the reserves since October 7, 2023. Half of these reservists reported serving for several hundred days.

In response to potential future reserve duty, a significant majority, 64%, stated they would report without hesitation. Another 33% said they would do so out of necessity, while only 3% expressed uncertainty or a refusal to serve again.

Since February 28, the Islamic terrorist regime of Iran has been heavily decimated by the joint US-Israel military operations.
